Contoured handles and grips have a stylised rounded design. In terms of materials, you can choose from various plastics including Bakelite or metals such as aluminium, steel or stainless steel. Contoured handles are available in fixed or twistable versions. As a rule, ball handles have a male or female thread starting at M5 and going up to M16.
A well-known form is the rotatable ball handle according to DIN 98, which is often used in combination with handwheels and hand cranks. There are also fixed ball handles and barrel grips that are often used as gear knobs or as lever knobs on, for example, levers of steering valves.
