Anti vibration mounts and rubber bushings

Are you looking for anti-vibration mounts? Also referred to as rubber shock absorbers. Then you have come to the right place at Verpas. We have a wide range of rubber shock absorbers. These are used to reduce vibrations and the noise level of compressors, fans, pumps and switch boxes, among other things. Anti-Vibration mounts therefore prevent damage to and interference by machinery.

What types of vibration dampers are there?

There are different types of anti-vibration mounts. Our range includes different shapes, like; cylindrical, waisted, conical or parabolic. The type is indicated by a letter code.

To keep it as clear as possible, we have listed the most common models for you.

  • Type A (1) Cylindrical bobbin with male-male thread
  • Type B (2) Cylindrical bobbin with male-female thread
  • Type C (3) Cylindrical bobbin with female-female thread
  • Type D (4) Cylindrical bobbin with male thread on one side only (impact absorber)
  • Type E (5) Cylindrical bobbin with female thread on one side only (impact absorber)
  • Type KP Parabolic shape with male or female thread on one side (impact absorber)
  • Type KN Conical shape with male or female thread on one side (impact absorber)
  • Type TP Waisted bobbin with threads on both sides

The cylindrical shaped anti-vibration mounts are compressible, so are the parabolic and conical ones, but they also dampen progressively in addition. In short, the more they are compressed, the more they dampen. The waist shape damper is also pressure-loaded, but additionally dampens lateral movement (shear).

Besides all these types of anti-vibration dampers, we also supply various bump stops and blocks, rubber bushings and anti-vibration machine mounts and feet.

Anti-vibration machine feet

In vibration damping machine feet, we distinguish two types. Height-adjustable feet or anchorable non-adjustable feet (bell shaped mounts) A vibration damping machine foot is mainly used to reduce vibrations caused by internal combustion engines, electric motors or other moving parts.

What material are anti-vibration mounts made of??

Verpas supplies standard anti-vibration mounts in natural rubber, abbreviated (NR) with metal parts in galvanised steel. Basically, a anti-vibration mount consists of a rubber body and bonded metal parts. Vulcanised natural rubber is by far the most commonly used type of rubber compound. The temperature resistance of this rubber ranges from -40 °C to up to + 80 °C.

In addition, alternative rubber types are also available, each with their own specific properties. The choice of alternative rubber is often based on temperature and chemical resistance. The following rubber types are possible instead of natural rubber:

  • SBR (styrene butadiene rubber)
  • NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber)
  • HNBR (hydronated nitrile butadiene rubber)
  • CR (neoprene)
  • SI (sillicone)
  • EPDM (Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer)

All rubber types are also available in different hardnesses. For rubber, hardness is expressed in ° Shore A on a scale of 0-100. The hardness of the rubber determines the load capacity of the damper itself and its damping properties. Verpas supplies natural rubber in 55° Shore A hardness as standard. Other Shore hardnesses may or may not be available from stock.

The metal parts of the vibration damper are generally made of galvanised steel (St37), but can also be made of stainless steel. Verpas supplies two stainless steel qualities, namely stainless steel A2 (AISI 304) or stainless steel A4 (AISI 316). A number of sizes are standard in stainless steel A2 or A4.

Many vibration dampers are available from stock. Are you looking for one specific vibration damper, in terms of size, rubber compound, metal parts or hardness? Then please contact us. Customisation is also possible in smaller quantities.
