What material types are nuts available in?
Nuts are available in metal and plastic. We offer metal nuts in galvanised steel, stainless steel A2 (AISI 304) and stainless steel A4 (AISI 316). And even in stainless steel versions that comply with the strict 3-A Sanitary Standards in terms of hygiene.
Plastic nuts are commonly available in polyamide (PA Nylon), but other plastics such as polyethene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), Teflon (PTFE), POM, PVDF, PEEK and others are also possible.
Plastic is generally used when metal nuts are not applicable due to external environmental factors. Examples include moisture, temperature, chemical substances or even combinations of these. For instance, where metal is affected and starts to corrode (rust), a plastic nut can be extremely suitable. The light weight or insulating properties of plastic can also play a role. Each plastic has its own specific material characteristics.
