Pipe and flange protection

Tubes, pipes and flanges are essential parts in plants and machines. During transport, maintenance or surface treatment, it may be important to protect pipe ends, gasket faces and flanges against mechanical damage or penetrating contamination. Fortunately, various solutions are available for this purpose.

Types and sizes of flange protection

With flanges and especially the gasket surfaces (face), it is very important to keep them free from damage and contamination during maintenance, transport, machining, blasting and coating. Flange protectors are available for the following flanges:

  • ANSI – 3/8" to 36" in various pressure classes
  • DIN – DN10 to DN800 in various pressure classes
  • SAE – SAE 61 (3000 psi) and SAE 62 (6000 psi), ½"through 2"

For full flange protection, flange caps, self-locking flange protectors, discs and rubber adhesive plates are available. In addition, it is also possible to cover only the gasket surface - flat face or raised face. This can achieved with a self-clamping plastic flange protector or a self-adhesive rubber flange protector.

Tube protection

Protective caps and protective plugs are also available for pipes and tubes. The pipe plugs and caps are used to prevent internal contamination and intrusion by vermin.

Pipe plugs clamp into the pipe by means of self-clamping fins and are available for pipe sizes up to Ø323mm, DN300, Ansi 12". The advantage of pipe plugs is that, unlike protective caps, they do not form an obstacle when stacking pipes and tubes.
